Here at The 1984 and Jalan Kenangan, we are all huuuge fans of Sekarputi Sidhiawati's ceramic brand, Derau. So it was an absolute delight to have her do workshop at our place.
The workshop was split in two sessions. In the first meeting, you got to learn how to handbuild. Then on the second meeting, the handbuilt potteries were already fired into biscuits where participant learnt to glaze on it. Glazing is my favorite part, because once they are fired again to final product, you'll get unexpected color results.
And here it is, the final results after second firing...
So many sad and heartfelt moments lately, actually. I don't even have the energy to write about it so in the mean time please enjoy this older post I have prepared quite some time ago about our Binatang Ciro prints for Binatang Press
Binatang Ciro is the first limited edition print that we tested on Awagami paper. We offered this to first five commenters on one of Binatang Press' instagram feed.
The image is a pattern of on of our Shihtzus, Ciro, shot from above.
The unexpected happened. Last week I just lost one of my pack member, Andro a.k.a Jamban but in the mean time we have another addition to the family, Beyonce (more pics of her later). I am still very heartbroken, confused and disoriented since I always feel that I am one of the pack too, it feels like there is a missing piece. Honestly I don't really know what to write right now, so in the mean time please enjoy these pictures which I took of the Shihtzu pack earlier this year.
We just did a mini exhibition in Design Festa, Tokyo last week (more post about that later!) ..In the mean time please enjoy these behind the scene pictures of our first trial for the art pieces. For this first trial we exercise a lot on how we are going to place the collages, so we only use simple transfer paper instead of silkscreen.
